Hi! Today I want talk about the first big english book that I've read, and it's called: Ugly Girl and Big Mouth. It's a book with 273 pages, and it talks about a "love" story, but it has a small part of mistery too, and especially, friendship.
It starts with a boy called Matt Donaghy who does lots of nasty jokes that gets him into a problem, and Usrula Riggs is the girl who takes Matt out of the problem. And they become friends.
I like this story because it's the type of book that makes you feel nervous throughout the story, and if you like loves stories this book is for you.
And, in my case, the book isn't very difficult, I understand the story almost perfectly, but it's true that some words I needed to search in the diccionary. And some chapters are a little bit more difficult, because things happen that you don't expect, and you don't know if you understand the chapter correctly. But in general it's very recommendable.
I let you read the first page of the book here;
"It was an ordinady January afternoon, a Thursday, when they came for Matt Donaghy.
They came for him during the fifth period, which was Matt's study period, in room 220 of Rocky River High School, Westchester Country.
Matt and three friends - Russ, Stacey, Skeet - had formed a circle with their desks at the rear of the room and were conferring, in lowered voices, about Matt's adaptation of a short story by Edgar Allan Poe into a one-act play; after school, in Drama Club, the four of them were scheduled to read William Wilson: A case of Mistaken Identity for the club members and their advisor. Mr Weinberg. It was a coincidence that Mr Weinberg, who taught English and drama at Rocky River High, was in charge of fifth-period study hall, and when a knock came at the door of the room, Mr Weinberg went to open it in his good-natured, sauntering manner."
